Horizontal Cutting Machine (Donut Cutter)
In 2006/7 Concrete Cutters (Sarum) Ltd introduced into scope of works a horizontal cutting machine affectionately known as a 'donut cutter'. From the original review of the AGL seating ring installation process a concept was designed, developed and subsequently a machine was built. After trials and the first operations on site the great success of the machine became apparent. We recognised safety improvements with a reduction in exposure to HAVs, cost and environmental savings due to less bedding material used and time savings on project as daily production is increased.
Innovation
This machine is totally new in terms of concept and there is nothing available to buy commercially any where in the world. We see it also as a different approach which has significant benefits. With such a specialist market Concrete Cutters (Sarum) Ltd have always had to design and build much of the specialist equipment it uses today. In the past it has not always been possible to judge the impact in terms of benefit. This totally innovative concept gives tangible benefits easily recognisable to many people. We have directly reduced the cost of AGL installation by 20% as a result of our innovation works on the Horizontal Cutter. Daily AGL production has been increased by 30% and material usage reduced by 15%.
To recognise the Special achievement by our senior engineer Andy Fry for his contribution to the horizontal cutter project and many other design & build projects over almost 25 years. Concrete Cutters (Sarum) Ltd presented Andy with the Crystal Glass Tankard.

Site Surveys and Estimating Service
Concrete Cutters (Sarum) Ltd will provide a full and comprehensive estimating & site survey service. Regardless of size of project we can visit site to measure works and provide technical expertise and advice. We will provide fixed price quotations and produce Safety Method Statements & Risk Assessments to ensure works are carried out safely & efficiently. Or we can estimate take offs for production requirements from construction or estimating drawings. Our processes are managed by our own safety & quality systems Accredited to ISO 9001. We are also accredited to ISO14001 for our & environmental management system.

Should you request us to work on your site we provide adequate supervising and liaison at all times to ensure works are completed to your satisfaction.
We have full BAA security ID passes for personnel and vehicles at all 7 of BAA's Uk Airfields allowing us to visit unescorted airside areas to measure and quote as Peter Barnes is doing above at Heathrow Airport. The above project on a fuel farm at Heathrow required time critical saw cutting and structural alterations. Peter measured the works from the drawings with our managing surveyor Femi Odunaya provided a fixed cost for the works to the Maintenance Contractor at Heathrow Airport, Dyer & Butler. Over 265 lm of flint aggregate saw cutting 450mm deep was carried out including stitch drilling in 48 hrs.
