Horizontal
Cutter
The
process of AGL seating ring installation involves core drilling
holes in aircraft manoeuvring areas. The core has to be broken
out to allow the seating ring to be securely fitted using
specialist High early strength mortars and grouts. Before
final curing the seat ring has to be accurately levelled and
optically aligned.

Prior to the AGL seating ring
bedding and alignment, breaking out of this core is carried out
by Heavy Duty Pneumatic hammers. As a resuult HAVS (Hand Arm Vibration
Syndrome) damage could be caused to the operator.
With
input from our staff, operatives and clients, our senior fitter
and designer Andy Fry produced drawings and
budgets to build a horizontal cutting machine. |

Our
machine would be a mobile unit with a self contained power
source driving a hydraulic pump. This pump would drive a hydraulic
motor which can traverse vertically along a rack and pinion
shaft. An extension rod with a diamond blade attached would
be fitted to the motor and run at a variable rpm dependant
on the host concrete strength. |
