NDIA Project Delays:
Unfortunately we have
had to bring our team back from DOHA until Jan 08 due to site issues
unrelated to our works. Client design changes and increased scope
for the main contractor have led to a situation where our production
continuity is affected. On January 7th we will be able to recommence
production of 90 – 100 12” seating rings per day. Directors
Iain Campbell & Ken Clay visited the site in September for a
series of meetings and were very impressed with the work so far
of our site team.
New
grooving Machine:
We are delighted to
announce we have placed an order for a new PC150 grooving machine
with Tyrolit Uk ltd. Iain Campbell went out to Brigham Airport in
UTAH to see the machine in commercial use and was extremely impressed.
Cutting 1000mm wide passes the machine is capable of 1000m2 of 4mm
x 4mm x25mm grooving in an hour. Delivered to the UK in Feb. 2008
the groover sees the single largest plant investment ever by a UK
company. It is also the largest investment in new grooving equipment
in the UK for over 20 years. All the major grooving contractors
in the USA are now using this machine and we are the first to purchase
one in Europe. We now can offer airfield grooving with rates as
low as £0.40/m2 without the need for road sweepers as the
machine has a full slurry collection system which pumps the slurry
to a collection tank/filtration system. The grooves are left spotless
and clean. We will issue more news on where the machine will be
working in 2008.

T5
safety achievement:
We have been commended by BAA / Morgan Est. site management on the
new T5 at Heathrow for our exemplorary safety record. Since we first
began works on the site in 2003 we have carried out over 175,000
man hours without a single reportable accident. They also gave us
very high praise for our introduction of remote drilling rigs and
horizontal cutting machines for AGL installation which both significantly
reduce exposure to vibration for our operatives.

Concrete
Cutters Supervisor:
Our Contract supervisor
Peter Barnes has received special recognition from the senior directors
this month for all his hard work. Peter became our contract supervisor
in Feb 2005, first as nightshift supervisor at Heathrow and is now
senior contract supervisor for all our SE airports work which is
largely focused in Heathrow but includes Stansted and Gatwick. We
have up to 15 different clients working on these airports and Peter
manages all their needs and organises our resources to ensure they
receive a first class professional service. Peter has worked for
Concrete Cutters for 11 years and during that time has worked on
4 main runway refurbishments and was asked by BAA to assist with
the design and implementation of the SCA (Safety Critical asset)
installation procedure for AGL seating rings.
